Moving can be stressful, but it does not have to be. Expedite Moving’s New Jersey movers handle local and residential relocations across the state — from a one-bedroom walk-up in Hoboken to a four-bedroom colonial in Westfield. Whether you are moving down the street or from one end of New Jersey to the other, we quote the job honestly, show up on time, and treat your things like our own.
Most moving companies in NJ, ours included, price local work by the hour rather than by weight. What you pay comes down to how many movers the job needs, how long they are on the clock, and how hard the two ends are to work in.
No weekend surcharge, no fuel surcharge, no stair fee added at the end.
New Jersey moves require planning and local knowledge. Our movers are trained to handle:
We plan ahead so your move stays efficient and on schedule.
Residential work is the bulk of what our New Jersey movers do, and the phrase covers a lot of ground — a studio in New Brunswick and a five-bedroom in Summit are both residential moves. Here is what a move of each size takes.
These are planning ranges for a crew of that size on a home of that size, not a quote. New Jersey's rules entitle you to a written, itemized estimate after we walk the home or run a video survey.
From walk-ups to luxury high-rises, our movers are equipped for the realities of moving in New Jersey.
We regularly move clients in apartment communities and condo buildings throughout New Jersey. Our team follows building rules, protects common areas, and keeps your move organized and efficient.
Stairs, tight turns, and multiple floors are common in NJ homes. Our movers are experienced in safely moving furniture and heavy items through multi-level spaces.
Whether you’re moving into or out of a single-family home, we handle driveway access, garage loading, and full-house moves with care and attention to detail.
Not every move is a full house. We offer flexible solutions for studios, apartments, and partial moves throughout New Jersey.
New Jersey runs about 170 miles from its northern border to Cape May, so a move that never leaves the state can still be a long day on the road.
Downsizing a parent, or moving into a 55+ community or assisted living? Our senior movers in New Jersey run those moves at a slower pace with one coordinator from estimate to delivery.
New Jersey regulates household-goods movers through the Division of Consumer Affairs under N.J.A.C. 13:44D. Three rules are worth knowing before you hire anyone.
Expedite Moving is headquartered in Rahway, New Jersey, and our local movers serve communities across the northern and central part of the state. As a fully licensed New Jersey moving company (NJ Division of Consumer Affairs Reg. #39PC00116900), we handle local moves throughout these counties and cities — plus many towns in between.
If you are looking for local movers in NJ or movers in Central NJ, Rahway sits in the middle of that map — Union, Middlesex and Essex are short runs from our yard, and Bergen, Hudson, Monmouth, Morris and Somerset are regular New Jersey local moving territory.
For the towns where we move most often, we publish a detailed local page: what a typical move there costs, street and parking rules that affect the truck, building types, and what to plan for. More guides are added regularly.
Westfield is the biggest-ticket town we work in across Union County — the houses are roughly twice the size of the national average and the moves run to match. See what a Westfield move actually involves.
Don’t see your town? We serve many more communities across New Jersey — just ask when you request a quote and we’ll confirm coverage for your move.

Expedite Moving bills local New Jersey moves hourly: $40 per mover per hour plus $75 for the truck, which is $195 an hour for a three-mover crew and $235 for four. With a three-hour minimum plus one hour of travel, a small local move starts at roughly $800.
The hourly rate covers the crew, truck, blankets, shrink-wrap, floor protection, and disassembly and reassembly of standard furniture. What legitimately adds cost is packing materials, long carries where the truck cannot park close, and specialty items. Those are itemized on the written estimate, not added on moving day.
Tipping is customary but never required, and it is never added to your bill. Most customers who tip do so at the end of the day based on how hard and how carefully the crew worked. If a crew falls short, we would rather you call us than adjust a tip.
Yes. New Jersey requires household-goods movers to register with the Division of Consumer Affairs, which regulates them under N.J.A.C. 13:44D. Expedite Moving, Inc. is registered under #39PC00116900. Ask any mover for their registration number before you book.
Under N.J.A.C. 13:44D-4.6(a) a New Jersey mover cannot limit liability to less than $1.00 per pound per article. That is a floor, not full replacement value, so a 10-pound laptop is covered at $10 under basic valuation. Ask about full-value protection if that gap matters.
Two to four weeks is comfortable for most local moves. Month-end weekends and late June through August fill first, so book those further out. We take short-notice work when a crew is free, and we answer seven days a week, 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

Yes, as routine work rather than an exception. Garden-style apartments, third-floor walk-ups and Hudson County high-rises each get a crew sized for the access. Where a building needs a certificate of insurance or a reserved elevator window, we handle it and issue the COI free.
Yes. We pack whole houses, and we also pack a single kitchen or a few boxes of fragiles. There is no minimum. Packing is quoted separately from the move so you can see what the labor and the materials each cost.
We handle long-distance household moves within New Jersey and the surrounding region, priced around drive time rather than as a standard local job. New Jersey is about 170 miles end to end, so an in-state move can easily be a long one. Tell us both addresses and we will confirm what we can take on.
When you hire Expedite Moving, you’re choosing New Jersey movers who show up prepared, communicate clearly, and treat your belongings like their own.
