Pricing for international moves depends on the volume and weight of your shipment. To provide you with an accurate estimate, a relocation expert will need to carefully examine and evaluate your shipment.
Answers to the questions we get asked most — pricing, booking, insurance, and what happens on moving day.
It’s important for a relocation expert to examine your location and belongings. This will ensure that we are fully prepared for your move and that your pricing estimate is accurate. We recommend that you obtain your pricing estimates 4-6 weeks prior to your move.
Moving rates generally depend on the date and the number of moving professionals required to complete your move. Please note that there are other cost factors involved such as packing materials, chosen valuation, etc.
Although additional insurance is not required by law, you may want to purchase additional insurance coverage for your valuables. We recommend that you discuss your options with one of our moving consultants.
It’s common for three men to complete a small job but larger moves will require additional staff. Expedite Moving will thoroughly evaluate the job size and assign the appropriate amount of movers to keep things smooth and efficient.
Limited as well as full packing & unpacking services are available. Our expert consultants will help you determine your needs and will work with your according to your budget.
Although you are not expected to tip and our staff is prohibited from demanding, tips are always welcomed and appreciated. A customary tip of 10%-15% of the total moving cost would be greatly appreciated.
Although not recommended, last minute moves are possible. Please call us to check availability.

Yes. For interstate and long-distance moves we operate under USDOT 2491702 and MC-862984. For moves inside a single state we hold the registration that state requires: New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs #39PC00116900, New York State DOT #T-39418, and Florida #IM3444. All five are public records you can look up before you book.
We run three branches: Rahway, New Jersey — our headquarters — plus Brooklyn, New York and Sunrise, Florida. Each one handles local moves in its own area, and all three handle long-distance and interstate work, including the New Jersey and New York to Florida route we run regularly.
Across the local moves we completed this year the median was about $1,265, and roughly three in four landed between $800 and $2,000. Local moves are priced by the hour by crew size: a three-person crew with a truck is $190 an hour. We bill a four-hour minimum that includes travel time, which puts the practical floor at about $800.
Long-distance and interstate moves start around $2,000, and most land between $3,000 and $5,000. They are priced on the size of the shipment and the route rather than by the hour, so what you are moving and how far it goes matter more than how long the day runs. New Jersey to Florida is the exception: at roughly 1,200 miles it prices above that average, and we publish separate figures for that route. Price follows the space your shipment takes on the truck, not the number of bedrooms.
A studio or small one-bedroom is usually three to four hours with a two-person crew. Most one and two-bedroom homes take four to five hours with three movers. A three or four-bedroom house is generally most of a day — eight to ten hours with a crew of four. Stairs, long carries and elevator buildings add time, which is why the walkthrough matters.
Yes. Beds, table legs, mirrors mounted on dressers and anything else that has to come apart to leave the room safely is taken apart at your old place and reassembled at the new one.
Someone with the authority to make decisions should be on site for the whole job — either you or a person you have designated in advance. The crew needs someone to confirm what goes and what stays, walk the final check of every room, and sign off at delivery. Most disputes start with nobody available to direct the crew.
Your estimate is based on the inventory and the access we are told about. If the job turns out larger than described — more items than listed, items added on the day, a longer carry, or stairs that were not mentioned — the price reflects the extra work, and we tell you before we do it rather than after. An accurate walkthrough up front is the way to avoid a surprise.
Our phones are open seven days a week, 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Weekend dates and the last few days of the month are the first to fill, so book those as early as you can.
Yes. Most apartment and office buildings require a certificate of insurance — usually naming the building and its management company as additional insured — before they will let a crew through the door. Ask us for it as soon as your date is booked. It has to be arranged ahead of time, because the insurance office is closed at weekends: a COI requested on a Friday for a Saturday move cannot be issued in time. Send us your building’s requirements early and we will have the certificate with management before moving day.
